Vulcan Sac Tun Quarry & Port (SEIZED — Quintana Roo, Mexico)

Vulcan operated this Quintana Roo limestone quarry for 30+ years via subsidiary Sac Tun. Shipped 62,000-tonne loads of crushed limestone by self-discharging vessels to Tampa, New Orleans, Houston, and Brownsville. In 2022-2023, the López Obrador government physically seized the quarry and port terminal; Mexican Navy took the facility in March 2023 to allow a CEMEX shipment. Mexico offered $383M; Vulcan valued it at $1.9B. USMCA investment protection claims filed. Site banned from extraction before AMLO left office. A key seaborne limestone supply route to the US Gulf Coast was cut.
