Utility Virtual Power Plant (VPP) / DERMS Software

Distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) software that aggregates and dispatches distributed energy resources (home generators, batteries, smart thermostats, EV chargers) as a coordinated utility-scale resource for demand response, frequency regulation, and grid balancing. Utilities use VPP programs to call upon millions of consumer devices as a single dispatchable resource during peak demand or supply emergencies. Generac (via Enbala subsidiary) and Sunrun are among the leading VPP platform operators. The FERC Order 2222 (2020) mandated that RTOs/ISOs open wholesale markets to aggregated distributed energy resources, accelerating VPP adoption.
