Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle E— Reserve Components › Part I— ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION › Chapter 1007— ADMINISTRATION OF RESERVE COMPONENTS › § 10206
Members of the Selected Reserve who are not on active duty must get a full medical and dental checkup each year. These checks include routine preventive screenings and physical exams that match the risks of military service, age, and gender. Each year they must send proof to the Secretary in charge showing they are medically and dentally ready for duty. Members of the Individual Ready Reserve or inactive National Guard are checked when needed to see if they are fit for duty, a promotion, attendance at a military school, or other career moves. All Reserve members in active status or on an inactive list who are not on active duty must file a yearly certificate about their physical condition. When deciding fitness for active duty, officials must look at the kind of duty the member would do.
