Veterinary professionals may give animal care anywhere in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory or possession, even if the person and the animal are in different places, when that care is part of their official work for the Department of Defense. To do this, the person must be one of these: a member of the armed forces, a Department of Defense civilian, or someone credentialed and allowed to work at a federal veterinary site the Secretary of Defense names; or a National Guard member on training or duty under section 502(f) of title 32. They must also have a veterinary certification the Secretary of Defense accepts and hold a current license from a State, DC, or a U.S. territory or possession.
