Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle E— Reserve Components › Part II— PERSONNEL GENERALLY › Chapter 1209— ACTIVE DUTY › § 12319
A Ready Reserve member can be ordered, under rules the Secretary of Defense sets, to do muster duty once each year even if they do not agree. They must do at least two hours that day, and the total time spent, including travel there and back, cannot be more than one day in a calendar year. That muster duty and the travel that goes with it count like inactive‑duty training for military pay and veterans benefit rules (titles 37 and 38), except for section 206(a) of title 37. Muster duty does not count toward computing retired pay under chapter 1223.
