Defines the key words used in the chapter. Insurance program means the Ready Reserve Mobilization Income Insurance Program. Covered service means active duty by a reservist under an order for more than 30 days that either supports an operational mission where reservists were called up without agreeing to it, or supports forces activated during a war declared by Congress or a national emergency declared by the President or Congress. Insured member means a Ready Reserve member enrolled in the program. Secretary means the Secretary of Defense. Department means the Department of Defense. Board of Actuaries means the Department of Defense Board of Actuaries. Fund means the Reserve Mobilization Income Insurance Fund.
