Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— General Military Law › Part II— PERSONNEL › Chapter 81— CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES › § 1594
Civilian Department of Defense officers and employees who use automatic direct deposit can be paid back for bank fees that happen because a government administrative or mechanical mistake made their pay arrive late or wrong. Covered fees include things like overdraft or minimum-balance charges. Reimbursements come from the same funds used to pay the employee, and the department secretaries must write rules for how to make the payments. Financial institution means a bank, savings and loan, similar place, or a federal or state chartered credit union. Pay also includes allowances.
