Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle E— Reserve Components › Part IV— TRAINING FOR RESERVE COMPONENTS AND EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS › Chapter 1607— EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE FOR RESERVE COMPONENT MEMBERS SUPPORTING CONTINGENCY OPERATIONS AND CERTAIN OTHER OPERATIONS › § 16167
Educational assistance under this chapter ends on the date that is four years after the date of the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016. From the day that Act became law until that four‑year end date, help can only be given to members who were already getting educational assistance for a course and who were enrolled in the period immediately before the Act became law. If a member loses eligibility because of that rule, the member may choose (in the form the Secretary of Veterans Affairs requires) to have the service that was credited under this chapter counted instead toward eligibility for educational assistance under chapter 33 of title 38, notwithstanding section 16163(e) or section 3322(h)(1) of title 38.
