Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— General Military Law › Part II— PERSONNEL › Chapter 87— DEFENSE ACQUISITION WORKFORCE › Subchapter IV— EDUCATION AND TRAINING › § 1747
The Secretary of Defense must create a fellowship to help hire people with strong acquisition skills. Up to 25 current DoD employees can be named acquisition fellows. To be chosen, an employee must have at least 2 years in a DoD acquisition job and be in a position that will likely bring strong legal limits on what jobs they can take after leaving the government. Fellows are paid for 2 years to do research or teach about federal acquisition policy at the Defense Acquisition University, another federal professional school, or a nonprofit college. Each fellow gets the same pay rate they had in their DoD job before the fellowship.
