§20234 Opportunities for Consideration for Promotion

Summary

The Secretary of the Air Force must set how many chances Space Force officers get to be considered for promotion to any rank above captain, and must do this for each promotion category. The Secretary can change those numbers no more than once every five years. The Secretary of Defense can also change the numbers whenever he decides. The number of chances cannot be more than five. If a cut in the number of chances would remove one or more consideration chances that an officer already had, that officer must be given one extra chance after the cut.
