§20605 Applicability of Other Provisions of Law Relating to Retirement

Summary

Air Force retirement rules must be used for Space Force members unless this chapter says otherwise. Rules that apply to Air Force officers also apply to Space Force officers, and rules for Air Force enlisted members apply to Space Force enlisted members. A “regular” member means someone on sustained duty in the Space Force. A “reserve” member means someone in Space Force active status who is not on sustained duty. Rules for the Ready Reserve apply to Space Force members in active status before they are sent to active duty. Rules for the Retired Reserve apply to Space Force members who retired under chapter 1223. The parts of the law that apply are chapters 61, 63, 69, 71, 941, 945, 1223, and 1225. These chapters cover things like leaving or retiring because of injury or illness, retiring because of age, what rank you keep in retirement, how retired pay is figured, Air Force length-of-service retirement rules, and retired-pay rules for non-regular service.
