Defines important words used for the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship and Financial Assistance program. "Program" refers to the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship and Financial Assistance program. "Member of the program" is a person who has been made a commissioned officer in a reserve part of the armed forces and who is enrolled in the program. "Course of study" is education at an accredited college, university, or institution in medicine, dentistry, or another health field that leads to a related degree, as defined by rules from the Secretary of Defense. "Specialized training" is advanced, accredited training in a health specialty that goes beyond the basic education needed to be appointed a commissioned officer with a health professional designation.
