Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— General Military Law › Part III— TRAINING AND EDUCATION › Chapter 108— DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE SCHOOLS › § 2164b
Allows a dependent of a full-time, active-duty service member to attend a DoDEA elementary or secondary school at the military installation where the member is assigned, on a space-available basis, even if the member does not live on the installation. The Secretary of Defense must begin the program within 180 days after the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025 is enacted. A student may be admitted only if the school has room, as decided by the Director of the Department of Defense Education Activity. The Secretary will pick installations for the program based on military readiness needs and school capacity. By April 1, 2025, and once a year for four years after that, the Secretary must brief the Senate and House Armed Services Committees about which installations are participating and how many students are enrolled. The Secretary must also notify those committees 90 days before announcing any new installation’s participation. A "covered DoDEA school" means a DoDEA domestic school in the continental United States that was established on or before the date the NDAA for FY2025 was enacted.
