The Secretary of each military department can assign commissioned officers from the Army, Navy, or Air Force to serve with the American National Red Cross. For the Red Cross’s Service to the Armed Forces Division, one or more officers may come from the Army Medical Department, the Navy Medical Department, or Air Force medical-related officers (medical, dental, veterinary, medical service, nursing, or medical specialists). To run the Red Cross first-aid department, the Secretary may assign an Army Medical Corps officer, a Navy Medical Corps officer, or an Air Force medical officer.
