Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle B— Army › Part III— TRAINING › Chapter 753— UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY › § 7450
The Secretary of the Army can set an amount given to a cadet when they first join the Academy to pay for initial uniforms and gear. That amount will be taken from the cadet’s pay. If a cadet leaves before graduating and still owes money for advanced clothing or equipment, they must give back enough military items to cover the debt. If those items are worth less than what is owed, the rest of the debt is canceled. Under rules the Secretary makes, a cadet can be provided uniforms and equipment at the Academy when they ask for them.
