§7486 Academy of Health Sciences: Admission of Civilians in Physician Assistant Training Program

Summary

The Secretary of the Army can make an agreement with an accredited college or university to let that school’s students attend the classroom (lecture) part of the Army’s physician assistant training at the Academy of Health Sciences in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The college must also provide academic support for the program in return, as the Army and the college agree. The Army and the college will agree on who can be chosen and how they are picked, and those standards must be like the Academy’s usual admission rules. Students from the school must follow the same attendance, discipline, and dismissal rules as other Academy students unless the Secretary says otherwise. The Army must not pay more than it would for similar services elsewhere, and civilian student attendance must not reduce the number of military members in the program.
