Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— General Military Law › Part II— PERSONNEL › Chapter 47— UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE › Subchapter X— PUNITIVE ARTICLES › § 894
Anyone under military law commits mutiny if, acting with others, they refuse lawful orders, try to take over military authority, or cause violence or a disturbance. They commit sedition if, acting with others, they try to overthrow or destroy civil government or cause revolt, violence, or disturbance. If someone knows a mutiny or sedition is happening and does not try their hardest to stop it or fails to take reasonable steps to tell a superior officer, that is also an offense. Anyone found guilty of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failing to stop or report them can be punished by death or by any other penalty a military court orders.
