§8942 Rifles and Ammunition for Target Practice: Educational Institutions Having Corps of Midshipmen

Summary

The Navy can lend certain magazine rifles and parts that are not current service models and are not needed for reserve stocks to schools that have a uniformed corps of midshipmen for target practice. The loans cost the government nothing. The Navy can also provide 40 ball cartridges for each midshipman for each range, but no more than 120 rounds per midshipman in a year. Schools that borrow the equipment must use it only for target practice, take good care of it, return it when the Navy asks, and follow the rules the Navy makes to protect U.S. interests.
