Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle D— Air Force and Space Force › Part II— PERSONNEL › Chapter 933— MISCELLANEOUS RIGHTS AND BENEFITS › § 9254
The Secretary of the Air Force may create rules to allow certain former Air Force members to be named honorary separated members of the Space Force, called "Legacy Guardian." The rules can set who qualifies (including service dates and credit for service), explain how someone or a survivor can apply, and provide a certificate, badge, or other symbol of the honor. Being named a Legacy Guardian does not give any benefits beyond what these rules say. An eligible person is someone the Secretary finds served in support of space operations while in the Air Force and who separated (or already separated) from the armed forces as an Air Force member.
