Financial instruments issued by the two corporations named in section 1717(a)(2) are allowed investments and can be used as collateral for fiduciary, trust, or public funds that the United States or its officers control. Any stock, bond, or other security issued under this part is treated the same as a U.S. government security and is counted as an exempt security under the laws the Securities and Exchange Commission enforces.
