Title 12 › Chapter 29— HOME MORTGAGE DISCLOSURE › § 2808
The chapter starts on the 180th day after December 31, 1975. Any institution the law names in its A category that had $10,000,000 or less in total assets in its last full fiscal year is exempt from the chapter. The Bureau, working with the Secretary, can also exempt similar institutions in the law’s B category (ignoring the adjustment in subsection (b)). After December 31, 1996, the $10,000,000 cutoff must be adjusted each year by the yearly percent change in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. The first adjustment after September 30, 1996 uses the change from 1975 to 1996. Each year’s dollar amount is rounded to the nearest $1,000,000.
