Title 12 › Chapter 34A— APPRAISAL SUBCOMMITTEE OF FEDERAL FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS EXAMINATION COUNCIL › § 3332
The Appraisal Subcommittee must oversee how appraisals tied to federal transactions are handled. It must check state rules for certifying and licensing appraisers, including a code of professional conduct, and state rules for registering and supervising appraisal management companies. It must also review federal agencies' appraisal standards and their decisions on when a state-certified appraiser versus a state-licensed appraiser is required. The Subcommittee must keep a national list of state-certified and state-licensed appraisers who may do federally related appraisals and a national list of appraisal management companies that are either registered with a state licensing agency or are operating subsidiaries of a federally regulated financial institution. By June 15 each year the Subcommittee must send Congress a report on how it carried out these duties in the preceding year. The report must describe its activities, include results of audits of state appraiser agencies, and list disapproved actions and warnings from the prior year with the reasons and steps taken to correct them. The Subcommittee must also monitor and review the practices and organization of the Appraisal Foundation.
