Contracts with private lawyers must let the Attorney General end the contract or stop the lawyer from representing the United States in certain cases if the Attorney General decides it's in the U.S. interest. The lawyer must send a monthly report about the prior month's work. Starting, settling, dismissing, or compromising claims must be approved by an authorized U.S. officer.
