Title 12 › Chapter 51— SECURE AND FAIR ENFORCEMENT FOR MORTGAGE LICENSING › § 5101
Encourages states to set up a Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry to make mortgage licensing more consistent and safer. The system must use the same license forms and reports for state-licensed loan originators (people who arrange mortgage loans). It must keep a full licensing and supervision database, help regulators share information, track and hold originators accountable, and make licensing simpler. It must strengthen consumer protections and fight fraud, give free online access to originators’ work history and public disciplinary actions, push originators to act in consumers’ best interests, require subprime training and testing, and collect consumer complaints for regulators.
