Title 14 › Subtitle SUBTITLE III— COAST GUARD RESERVE AND AUXILIARY › Chapter 37— COAST GUARD RESERVE › Subchapter I— ADMINISTRATION › § 3705
Coast Guard Reserve members on active duty, in inactive‑duty training, or traveling get the same benefits as Navy Reservists of the same rank, job, and length of service. Length of service includes any time credited to Regular Coast Guard members, and Chapter 27 of Title 14 applies. If a Reserve member becomes sick, disabled, or dies from service, they get the same sickness, disability, or survivor benefits as Navy Reservists. Active‑duty members and those retired for disability get benefits under section 253(a) of Title 42 and chapter 55 of Title 10. Most Reservists get Navy Reserve retirement rights; enlisted Reservists who retire after years of active service get Regular Coast Guard enlisted retirement rights. Reserve officer candidates, full‑time college students, may receive a monthly subsistence allowance at the rate in section 209(a) of Title 37.
