The Commandant must keep a current list of every piece of Coast Guard real property, including submerged lands. For each property the list must show size, location and other identifying details; its physical condition (except for land); whether it should be kept for current or future missions or sold/transferred; and any other useful information. The Commandant must update a property's entry within 30 days after any change in who controls it. By March 30, 2016, and every 5 years after that, the Commandant must send a report to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. The report must list properties by type and location, recommend any properties to be sold or transferred, and recommend any combinations of properties with cost or savings estimates and how each would affect the Coast Guard’s ability to do its work.
