Within 90 days after the National Transportation Safety Board sends a safety recommendation and its reasons to the Commandant, the Commandant must send a written reply saying whether the Commandant agrees, partly agrees, or disagrees. If the Commandant agrees or partly agrees, the reply must explain what actions will be taken to carry out the recommendation. If the Commandant disagrees, the reply must explain why. If no reply arrives within 90 days, the NTSB must tell the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
