Title 14 › Subtitle SUBTITLE I— ESTABLISHMENT, POWERS, DUTIES, AND ADMINISTRATION › Chapter 9— ADMINISTRATION › Subchapter II— MISCELLANEOUS › § 934
You must not use official Coast Guard names or abbreviations — like USCG, USCGR, Coast Guard, United States Coast Guard, Coast Guard Reserve, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lighthouse Service, Life Saving Service, or similar wording — as your business name or in ads if it would make people think you are connected to the Coast Guard. You also must not claim that a business, product, or project is approved, authorized, or supported by the Coast Guard when it is not. If you break these rules, you can be fined up to $10,000, jailed for up to one year, or both.
