Title 14 › Subtitle SUBTITLE I— ESTABLISHMENT, POWERS, DUTIES, AND ADMINISTRATION › Chapter 9— ADMINISTRATION › Subchapter II— MISCELLANEOUS › § 945
The Secretary may let the Coast Guard use ships, planes, facilities, or personnel to help film producers when it is appropriate and will not interfere with Coast Guard missions. "Film producers" means commercial or noncommercial makers of material for cinema, television, or videotape. The Secretary must track or estimate the extra costs of giving that help, excluding costs already part of normal Coast Guard operations or training. Producers who ask for help must pay those costs on terms the Secretary sets. The Secretary can waive up to $200 for one production and can waive other costs for noncommercial projects that are in the public interest. Money collected must be returned to the Coast Guard account that paid the costs.
