Title 14 › Subtitle SUBTITLE I— ESTABLISHMENT, POWERS, DUTIES, AND ADMINISTRATION › Chapter 9— ADMINISTRATION › Subchapter II— MISCELLANEOUS › § 954
The Commandant can mark Coast Guard money set aside for certain Coast Guard Academy sports or recreational extracurricular programs so it counts as nonappropriated funds. Money marked this way must be spent under the rules for nonappropriated funds and stays available until it is used. A "mixed-funded" Academy program is an athletic or recreational extracurricular program that (1) is not part of normal morale, welfare, or recreation (MWR) programs, (2) gets appropriated funds, (3) also gets support from a nonappropriated fund unit, and (4) is not a private group and is not run by one.
