Title 15 › CHAPTER 24 — TRANSPORTATION OF GAMBLING DEVICES › § 1173
If a person or business makes, repairs, buys, sells, leases, uses, or makes gambling machines available, and their work touches interstate or foreign trade or involves machines moved across state or national lines after the Gambling Devices Act of 1962 took effect, they must register with the Attorney General each calendar year. The registration must be done after November 30 of the previous year and before the date they make, sell, ship, receive, or do the covered activity. The registration must give the person’s legal name and trade names, addresses of each place of business, the address where they will keep required records, and which of the listed activities they will do that year. Manufacturers must put a serial number, their name (and trade name if different), and the date of manufacture on each device when size allows. Those who register must keep monthly records of devices they make, buy, own, or ship, showing the device markings or catalog info, locations, and names and addresses of buyers, sellers, and carriers. Records must be kept at the designated place for at least five years. It is illegal to deal in unmarked devices, to remove marks, or to make false entries. FBI agents may inspect and copy the required records, and a court can order production if someone refuses.
