Title 15 › Chapter 30— HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES › § 1271
A designated Commission officer may, at reasonable times, inspect records and make copies from carriers or recipients/holders of hazardous substances shipped between states. Records must show movement or holding, amount, shipper, and recipient. The officer’s request must be written and name the substance. Refusing is illegal. Evidence obtained this way, or evidence derived from it, cannot be used to criminally prosecute the person who provided it. Carriers are not covered by other parts of this chapter for routine carriage, receipt, holding, or delivery of hazardous substances.
