Summary

A company that issues a credit card cannot force a seller to open an account or buy other services from the issuer, a company it owns, or an agent as a condition of accepting that card. This rule applies even if a contract or agreement says otherwise.

Title 15, §1666g

Notwithstanding any agreement to the contrary, a card issuer may not require a seller, as a condition to participating in a credit card plan, to open an account with or procure any other service from the card issuer or its subsidiary or agent.
