Title 15 › CHAPTER 42 — INTERSTATE LAND SALES › § 1714
The Director can ask a federal court to stop anyone from doing things that break this law or the rules under it. If the court agrees, it must issue a temporary or permanent court order to stop the action and it does not have to require a bond. The Director can also send any evidence to the Attorney General, who can decide whether to bring criminal charges. The Director can investigate suspected violations and can require people to give written statements, under oath or not, as he decides. He can share information about violations and look into facts to help enforce the law, make rules, or suggest new laws. For investigations, the Director or a chosen officer can give oaths, issue subpoenas (official orders to appear), force witnesses to attend, take testimony, and demand books, records, or papers from anywhere in the United States. If someone refuses a subpoena, the Director can ask a federal court in the right district to order that person to appear or hand over records, and the court can punish disobedience as contempt. Legal papers can be served where the person lives or is found.
