§2413 Executive Director and Deputy Director

Summary

Creates an Executive Director for the Center. The President picks the person and the Senate must approve. The choice must not be based on political party and must be based only on fitness for the job. No one may serve as an acting or temporary Executive Director for more than three months. The Executive Director picks a Deputy who does duties the Director assigns and fills in when the Director is absent or disabled. The Executive Director runs the Center. The Director controls the staff, handles all duties, keeps the budgets, and allocates funds. Pay cannot exceed the rate for Executive level IV under section 5315 of title 5 as set by the President. The Director must not hold any other public or private job while serving.
