§2695 Grants for Healthy School Environments

Summary

The EPA Administrator, working with the Secretary of Education, may give grants to States to help schools deal with environmental problems. Grants can pay for technical help tied to EPA programs, such as the Tools for Schools program and the Healthy School Environmental Assessment Tool. Grants can also fund state programs that set school building rules for design, construction, and renovation and find and fix ongoing problems like contaminants, hazardous substances, and pollutant emissions, including checking kids’ exposure. The Administrator’s power to make these grants ends 5 years after December 19, 2007.
