Title 15 › Chapter 77— STEEL AND ALUMINUM ENERGY CONSERVATION AND TECHNOLOGY COMPETITIVENESS › § 5101
Provides federal support to keep U.S. steel, aluminum, copper, and other metals industries strong because they are important to national security and the economy. It says the government will help improve technology and save energy through joint research and development. The law’s goals are to boost energy efficiency and make these industries more competitive by offering federal incentives for public‑private R&D partnerships that use the metal industries, DOE and NIST labs, universities, state development agencies, and others. It also continues steel R&D efforts started under the joint resolution approved December 19, 1985 (Public Law 99–190).
