Title 15 › Chapter 78— SUPERCONDUCTIVITY AND COMPETITIVENESS › § 5207
The Secretary of Defense must focus the Department’s superconductivity work on basic science, how to make superconducting materials, and real uses for new superconducting materials. The Secretary must also define the engineering limits for high-temperature superconductors and do the development, engineering, and prototype tests needed for Defense missions, using DARPA’s testing rules when appropriate. The Director of DARPA must help support federal and industry research and create the testing criteria for prototypes.
