§6305 Registration

Title 15 › Chapter 89— PROFESSIONAL BOXING SAFETY › § 6305

Last updated Apr 3, 2026|Official source

Summary

Professional boxers must register with a State boxing commission. If a boxer lives in another country or in a State without a commission, they may register with any State that has one. The commission must give each registered boxer an ID card with a recent photo, the boxer’s Social Security number (or a similar foreign ID or boxer number), and a personal ID number from a boxing registry. Boxers must renew the card at least once every 4 years and show it no later than the weigh-in for a match. Congress recommends that when a commission gives the ID card, it should also give a health and safety warning. The warning should explain boxing risks, especially brain injury risks and how often they happen, and advise regular medical checks to look for brain injury.
