Title 15 › Chapter 89— PROFESSIONAL BOXING SAFETY › § 6306
Each State boxing commission must set up rules to check a pro boxer’s fight record and a doctor’s note before letting them fight. The rules must let the commission stop a boxer from fighting when needed. They must also keep boxers from fighting while suspended by any commission for things like a recent knockout or several losses, an injury or a doctor saying no, failing a drug test, using fake names or ID, or bad or unsportsmanlike behavior. Commissions must have a way to review and appeal suspensions, letting the boxer and others present evidence. They must also have a way to lift a suspension if the boxer proves medical recovery or shows the suspension was not justified. A commission may allow a suspended boxer to fight only if the suspension was for a different reason and the approving commission notifies and consults in writing with the suspending State’s designated official first, or if the boxer appeals to the Association of Boxing Commissions and that Association finds the suspension had no sufficient grounds, was for an improper purpose, or was unrelated to the boxer’s health and safety or the law’s purposes.
