State laws, rules, orders, and official interpretations keep applying unless they clash with this subchapter. If there is a clash, the federal rules take over only for the parts that conflict. A State law is not treated as clashing if it gives people greater protection. The Federal Trade Commission decides that after talking with the agency named in section 6822.
