Title 15 › Chapter 14B— SMALL BUSINESS INVESTMENT PROGRAM › Subchapter III— INVESTMENT DIVISION PROGRAMS › Part A— Small Business Investment Companies › § 684
Small Business Investment Companies must provide equity money to both incorporated and unincorporated small businesses. Each company decides the terms for its investments, but those terms must follow rules set by the Small Business Administration. Before giving money, the company can make the business refinance so the company holds any debt. The business must also agree not to take on new debt without the company's approval and without first offering the company a chance to finance it, unless the SBA’s rules say otherwise. The company can invest alone or partner with other investors through immediate participation agreements.
