Title 15 › Chapter 2— FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION; PROMOTION OF EXPORT TRADE AND PREVENTION OF UNFAIR METHODS OF COMPETITION › Subchapter IV— LABELING OF FUR PRODUCTS › § 69b
Fur products must have truthful, clear labels. If a label is false, misleading, or deceives people in any way, the product is treated as falsely labeled. Each fur item must carry a plain label with words and numbers that show: the animal name(s) listed in the Fur Products Name Guide plus any required extra wording; if the fur is used; if it was bleached, dyed, or otherwise colored; if it is mostly made from paws, tails, bellies, or waste fur; the name or registered ID of one or more companies or people who made, introduced, sold, advertised, transported, or distributed it; and the country of origin for any imported fur. Using any animal name not listed in the Name Guide is also false labeling.
