Title 15 › Chapter 2— FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION; PROMOTION OF EXPORT TRADE AND PREVENTION OF UNFAIR METHODS OF COMPETITION › Subchapter IV— LABELING OF FUR PRODUCTS › § 69c
Ads, labels, or other notices used to help sell fur must tell the truth about the fur. They must use the animal names from the official Fur Products Name Guide and any required short qualifier. They also must say if the fur is used, bleached, dyed, or otherwise artificially colored, or mostly made of paws, tails, bellies, or waste fur. Imported furs must show the country where they came from. Using other animal names or any misleading statement makes the ad false. Invoices for fur must show the same facts and also give the name and address of the person issuing the invoice. An invoice that uses the wrong animal names or that misleads about the fur is false.
