Defines key words used in the chapter. Advisory Panel is the President’s National Nanotechnology Advisory Panel. Nanotechnology is the science and tech that studies and works at the scale of atoms, molecules, and groups of molecules to build materials, devices, and systems with new molecular arrangements, properties, and functions. Program is the National Nanotechnology Program. Council is the National Science and Technology Council or a subgroup it names. Advanced technology user facility is a federally funded nanotech research center open to U.S. researchers on a competitive, peer-reviewed basis. Program component area is a major topic area that groups related projects and activities under the Program.
