Title 15 › Chapter 106— POOL AND SPA SAFETY › § 8004
The Commission must run a grant program, if funding is available, to help eligible covered entities improve swimming pool safety. To get a grant, a State or Indian Tribe must show when it applies that it has a law in place that covers all pools built in the State or Tribe on or after that date and that meets the minimum requirements in section 8005. Applicants must file whatever forms and information the Commission requires. The Commission sets each grant amount based on population, enforcement and implementation needs, and how to best protect children from drowning or entrapment. Recipients must use at least 25 percent of the grant to hire and train staff and cover related administrative costs. The rest must pay for public and operator education about the safety rules and related administrative costs. Up to $2,500,000 was authorized for fiscal year 2023.
