Title 15 › Chapter 115— PERFLUOROALKYL AND POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES AND EMERGING CONTAMINANTS › Subchapter III— USGS PERFORMANCE STANDARD › § 8932
The Director, working with the Administrator, must set a performance standard for finding highly fluorinated compounds in the environment. The standard must focus on detecting as many of these compounds as possible using validated lab methods that meet the limits of quantitation in the U.S. Geological Survey’s 2002 guidance and are as sensitive as practical. The Director may also create quality checks for sampling and testing, set up training on how to collect and analyze samples, and work with the Administrator to develop methods that can detect different fluorinated compounds at the same time.
