§9041 Definitions

Summary

Gives specific meanings for key words used later in the law. Air carrier — means what 49 U.S.C. 40102 says. Coronavirus — means SARS–CoV–2 or another coronavirus that could cause a pandemic. Covered loss — losses caused directly or indirectly by coronavirus, as decided by the Secretary. Eligible business — either an air carrier or a U.S. business that has not already gotten adequate relief through loans or loan guarantees under this Act. Employee — the meaning in 29 U.S.C. 152, and it also covers people who work for employers under the Railway Labor Act (45 U.S.C. 151 et seq.). Equity security; exchange — have the meanings in section 78c(a) of this title. Municipality — a local government or an agency of a city, State, or local government. National securities exchange — an exchange registered under section 78f of this title. Secretary — the Secretary of the Treasury or someone the Secretary appoints. State — any State, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories and possessions, bi‑State or multi‑State entities, and any Indian Tribe. Aerospace-related businesses critical to maintaining national security — businesses that make or work on aerospace products (civil or defense), such as designing, building, supplying, maintaining, or repairing aircraft, engines, parts, or related systems; the Secretary can define these further after consulting the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Transportation.
