Defines key words used in this part. Air carrier means the term as defined in 49 U.S.C. 40102. Coronavirus means SARS–CoV–2 or another coronavirus with pandemic potential. Covered loss means losses caused directly or indirectly by the coronavirus, as the Secretary decides. Eligible business means either an air carrier or a U.S. business that has not already received adequate relief through loans or loan guarantees under this Act. Employee means the term in 29 U.S.C. 152 and also covers people who work for employers under the Railway Labor Act (45 U.S.C. 151 et seq.). Equity security and exchange mean what 15 U.S.C. 78c(a) defines. Municipality covers a political subdivision of a State and its instrumentalities. National securities exchange means an exchange registered under 15 U.S.C. 78f. Secretary means the Secretary of the Treasury or the Secretary’s designee. State means any of the several States, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories and possessions, any bi‑State or multi‑State entity, and any Indian Tribe. Businesses critical to maintaining national security means businesses that make or produce aerospace‑related products (civil or defense) — including design, assembly, supply, maintenance, and repair — with further details set by the Secretary after consulting the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Transportation; aerospace products include things like components, parts, or systems of aircraft, aircraft engines, or appliances for use in aircraft or engines.
