Uses the meanings in 49 U.S.C. 40102(a) unless this part gives a different meaning, and then defines a few specific words for this part. "Airline catering employee" — a worker who does airline catering. "Airline catering services" — preparing, packing, and delivering food, drinks, and related supplies to planes or to a nearby airport spot for later delivery. "Contractor" — a company (or its subcontractor) hired by a passenger air carrier operating under Part 121 to do catering or other on‑airport tasks tied to moving people, cargo, or mail (for example loading, passenger assistance under Part 382, security, ticketing/check‑in, ground handling, cleaning/sanitizing, waste removal). "Employee" — a person (not a corporate officer) employed by an air carrier or contractor. "Recall" — a notice sent by mail, courier, or email to an involuntarily furloughed worker telling them they must, within at least 14 days, choose to return to work (or bypass return under the rules) or to permanently leave; no reply counts as choosing to leave. "Secretary" — the Secretary of the Treasury.
