When the Under Secretary thinks it is needed, they must work with public sector bodies to help minority-owned businesses grow in local economies. They must help those public bodies set up or improve programs to buy from minority businesses and set buying goals; offer help in six areas (management, technology, law, financing including accounting, marketing, and workforce development); and run outreach so local minority businesses know about these programs. They must also meet local leaders to suggest helpful rules or laws and help public bodies and Federal agencies work together to support minority business growth.
